The fund is expected to provide over $1.2 billion annually to help military users purchase commercial satellite communication and other services, accelerating the integration of more commercial capabilities into military space operations. It is reported that the funding was prepared by the US Space Systems Command and the Office of Space Strategic Cooperation. With the funding in place, several satellite communication contracts will be transferred from the Defense Information Systems Agency to the Space Force.
